Guarantee satisfaction before your purchase
Not surprisingly, most people rank shopping for a new mattress right up there with a root canal. Researching is a daunting task and the in-store experience can be anxiety-ridden. Is there a way to make it all go smoother – and still end up with a mattress that’s going make you happy for years?
Absolutely! You just need a roadmap and we can help.

Research
If you’re reading this, you’re already online and looking for information. And you’re not alone. Four out of five consumers start their research online and visit at least five companies before going to a brick and mortar store. But how do you process the flurry of data coming your way?
- Bookmark – When you stumble across a manufacturer or retailer that speaks your language, bookmark it in a folder labeled “Mattress Shopping” or “New Bed” so you’ll be able to find it later.
- Print it off – If the sites you’re using have comparison charts, print them off for your in-store questions.
- Chat – If you’re on Facebook or Twitter, ask your family and friends what they’re sleeping on. You’ll be amazed at how much people are willing to share about what they love (and what they can live without).
Take it off-line
Once you’ve exhausted yourself online, pack up your print-outs and head to the store. Nothing replaces getting on a bed and another and another. But it doesn’t stop there.
- Visit stores that portray the kind of experience you’re looking for. If you’re a boutique shopper, steer clear of stores that make you feel more like a credit card than a person.
- Talk, talk, talk to as many sales reps as you can.
- Share your research and ask questions. If one company is sharing the components of a mattress but another won’t, ask why.
After-Purchase Satisfaction
We don’t have to tell you that when a store over-delivers on the first two and under-delivers here, the whole experience is ruined. The truth is the best measure of after-purchase satisfaction is when a problem occurs.
Take a close look at the manufacturer.
- Do they have a website? Toll-free number?
- Does their website, catalogue, etc feel customer-service oriented?
- What does your sales rep say about the company? Their other products? His/her own satisfaction when dealing with them?
