Ecological intelligence – common sense gone green
He put the word ‘nature’ on our tongues and ratcheted up the environmental movement by tapping into our curiosity about the natural world. Dr. David Suzuk, Canadian eco-icon and grandfather of green, cultivated a generation of enviro-activists by radiating a pure love of nature.

Generation Green
Dr. Suzuki’s get’em when their young strategy began in 1970 with a weekly children’s show Suzuki on Science, and by 1979 The Nature of Things, targeting a mid-teen to adult audience, was airing in nearly fifty countries worldwide.
In 1985, his series A Planet for the Taking drew in more than 1.8 million viewers per episode an earned him a United Nations Environmental Program Medal. From children’s books to magazines, mini-series to documentaries, Dr. Suzuki has spread a message of love and respect for the natural world for more than forty years.
When David Suzuki speaks, people young and old listen.
Climate Change and the Grand-daddy of Green
“Climate change is considered by many scientists to be the most serious threat facing the world today.”
~ The David Suzuki Foundation
Dr. Suzuki leads by example. The David Suzuki Foundation’s carbon neutral office policies and commitment to sustainability is clear. By structuring his global speaking engagements in clusters to minimize travel emissions, and purchasing carbon offsets to make up the difference, he continues to reach out and spread the word with enviro-conscience.
Green Manufacturing
Like Dr. Suzuki, Natura’s commitment to the environment comes from our respect for the planet and our understanding that we will only ever be as healthy as the world we live in.
Natura leads by example too. Our organic, all-natural and green product lines offer consumers bedding and mattress choices made with organic, natural and sustainable components. More than that, our devotion to green manufacturing means you can rest assured we’re continuing to improve our defense of the planet.
And like Dr. Suzuki, we are unafraid to speak out for what we believe in. On February 1st at the Las Vegas Market, Natura World Inc., hosted a paneled discussion on transparency within the bedding and mattress industry.
We’ called on industry leaders from ISPA, the SSA and Cargill as well as two bedding and mattress retailers to address the particular challenges, advantages and demands of our industry. The open, honest discussion that followed proved that there are no easy answers. But asking the question is the first step to making change happen.
With thanks for teaching us the importance of protecting the delicate balance of nature, we tip our hats to Dr. David Suzuki, this weeks Eco-Celebrity.
