So many wools, so little time
You’ve browsed through our website and noticed, it never says just wool. There’s NaturaWool here, Natura Grow Wool there, Cry Less Wool in this, Natura Smart Wash Wool in that. Are we playing fast and loose with names…or does it all mean something? “Come on Natura!” You ask “What’s the dif?”

Wool processing
The wool we use at Natura has been purchased raw and carded in-house. Carding is the process of combing the clumps of raw wool so that the fibres line up parallel with each other. They can then be woven, blended or knit into a particular yarn, fabric or batten.
We choose and prepare our wools based on the needs of the products. Some wool products require extra bulk, some need to be washable, but whatever is needed…we’ve got the wool that works.
Natura Grow Wool™
Natura Grow Wool™ is our certified organic wool. It comes from a farm that meets the stringent standards of organic certification. It’s been scoured (washed and the lanolin has been removed) without the use of chemical agents. This preserves its pristine, natural condition. We use Natura Grow Wool in our organic bedding products.
Natura Smart Wash Wool™
Wool can be made washable. Natura Smart Wash Wool™ is treated and prepared in a way that peels the catchy outer pieces of wool fibre away so that when it’s washed the strands don’t knot together or bunch up (that’s what makes your fav wool sweater shrink). It is not organic, but it is still pure, all-natural, virgin wool, processed without the use of harmful chemicals. We use Natura Smart Wash Wool in bedding products designed to be washable.
Natura Wool™
Natura Wool is our standard all-natural and pure wool. While it doesn’t come from an organic farm it’s still pure virgin wool. It’s processed in a way that keeps the catchy outer husk of the wool fibre in place, which helps it maintain a higher loft for extra pressure point buffering and oh so cozy temperature control.
Natura Cry Less Wool™
Natura Cry Less Wool is the name we use for the wool we put in our baby products. It comes in both Organic Cry Less Wool and Washable Cry Less Wool varieties. Calling it “Cry Less Wool” is like writing in big red letters….this will make your baby cry less! And it’s true.
Studies have shown that premature babies who sleep on wool have lower heart rates, grow and develop at a faster rate and cry less than babies who don’t sleep on wool. Wow!
