Getting through bedrest with your sanity intact
It can be terrifying to have your pregnancy labeled high-risk and ordered to stay in bed for months. But remember, it’s a broad term applied to any woman who faces a higher-than-average risk of complications during pregnancy or delivering a baby with health concerns. It doesn’t mean your pregnancy won’t progress normally or your baby won’t arrive healthy.

Creating a healthy haven for your little miracle
One of my favorite pastimes during pregnancy was planning the nursery. I spent hours, folding and refolding all the impossibly tiny clothes and soft blankets waiting quietly for my baby. But what I loved most, was rocking slowly back in forth in the rocker and imagining him or her sleeping in the cradle or crib. Not yet introduced to the reality of 2am feedings and leaky diapers, dreams of a perfect nursery filled me with delicious anticipation.

Making the nightshift safe
Most parents are more than a little overwhelmed when they leave the safety of the hospital where nurses are on call every minute of the day and night. And when asked, parents cite sleep safety and Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) as their biggest concern. What parent hasn’t leaned over their child’s crib, anxiously watching for that soft rise and fall? Defined as the unexplained death of a baby, SIDS remains the leading cause of death of infants less than one-year-old.
