Unraveling the Mystery of Memory Foam

NASA developed memory foam technology to help astronauts survive the awesome G-force during lift-off and re-entry. Burn units and chronic care facilities soon realized its potential to cushion and protect and began using it for critically ill patients. It quickly moved from healthcare to consumer products and can now be found in everything from car seats to slippers – and, of course, mattresses.

How memory foam can help you overcome sleep disturbances

Memory foam gently reshapes itself to pressure applied to it, which eliminates joint and muscle stress during sleep. People who suffer from arthritis, scoliosis and chronic back, knee or hip pain report a marked increase in pain relief. What does memory foam feel like?

The picture to the left is the best description of how memory foam feels. Unlike buoyant foams, it memorizes and gently forms a cushion that’s “you” shaped. Fluidly responsive, it softens where more pressure is applied and supports your hollows and curves.

Its response to temperature is also unique. Throughout the night your body temperature slowly softens the foam, to create a cradle that supports your joints, muscles and spine and eases tension. Some describe sleeping on memory foam like being cradled in a warm hug all night.

What’s different about Natura’s memory foam?

NaturaPedic™ harnesses the healing properties of memory foam with an in-house blend that adds soy to the formula. But memory foam is best when paired with a supportive layer, which is why we offer three unique base layers to customize your support.

    •   Soy/Poly foam – Provides a firm base that encourages the Natura Pedic top layer to encompass your body shape
        without feeling soft.
    •   Natural latex – Medium/firm base that feels buoyant, yet equally cradles the body’s heavier and lighter zones equally.
    •   Talalay latex – Medium/firm that balances perfectly the beauty of memory foam and support of latex.

Why is your memory foam covered with wool?

We wrap all of our mattresses in wool and seal with an outer layer of cotton or cotton/poly ticking. Wool is a naturally miraculous fiber that works overtime to keep you comfortable all night long.

• It naturally wicks away moisture, which helps you
regulate your body temperature throughout the night.
• Because it repels moisture into the environment, your
bedding deters dust mites, mold and mildew from
   taking up residence.
• Wool partners with latex and memory foam to buffer
pressure points so you can sleep in one position for
   longer periods of time.
